HOW TO REGISTER and CREDIT INFORMATION

SUMMER 2020 CLASS SCHEDULE IS PENDING

Please read letter from Anne here

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY:
Refunds are available up until 30 days before a class, minus a $25 administrative fee. There are no refunds within 30 days of a workshop. However, you may substitute another person for any workshop or you can receive credit that can be applied to another Anne Diskin workshop. Please let Anne know if you cannot attend.

FOR OPTIONAL UNIVERSITY CREDIT:
University credit is available for all of Anne's classes through the University of the Pacific (Courses4Teachers). You can earn up to 3 semester units of credit for each course. Each semester unit is $99. Register and pay for University credit by check or credit card at the workshop.

PLEASE NOTE: Anne is not paid by the University of the Pacific to teach these courses. She offers credit as a convenience to teachers. That is why when you take a class from Anne, your registration fee goes directly to her. If you want university credit, you pay for the credit separately.

HOW TO GET UP TO 3 SEMESTER UNITS FOR A WORKSHOP:
You'll need to put in a total of 15 hours per semester unit -- thus 45 hours for three semester units. Some of that time will be in the workshop with Anne -- and that's automatic credit. Each full workshop day is 7.5 hours. Mini-workshops are 3 hours. However, if you wish more unit credit, you'll have to put in additional hours doing professional work after school or at home. You may start logging extra hours of work prior to the class if you'd like, and get a head start, or do extra hours after Anne's workshops are over. Your professional work does not have to relate to Anne's workshop -- it just has to be work that enhances your teaching. Going over workshop materials, previewing videos, reading professional articles and books, curriculum planning -- all of this counts.

In case you want to start ahead of time:
Example of a log:

DATE ACTIVITY # OF HOURS
4/12/19 Developed math rubrics for word problems 1.0 hour
4/14/19 Read __________ (children's lit) 3.0 hours
4/19/19 Created math games for fractions 1.0 hour
4/20/19 Researched programs for building self-esteem 1.0 hour
6/15/19 Diskin Nuts and Bolts Workshop 7.5 hours
7/2/19 Previewed LearnZillion lessons 2 hours

How many hours do you need to document for credit?
15 hours will earn you one semester unit
30 hours -- two units
45 hours -- three semester units

What activities count for credit?
You may work individually or with colleagues, as long as your after-school work is professional work that will benefit you by way of knowledge or skills to enhance your teaching, i.e., no correcting/grading papers, photocopying, conferencing with parents, or doing report cards. Your activities don't have to relate to each other, but they have to be professional activities.

Suggestions of excellent activities to log: read, researched, developed, created, toured, previewed.

Ask yourself this question: "Is what I am about to do something that will enhance my knowledge, skills, curriculum, or classroom environment for years to come?" If the answer is yes, then the activity is acceptable for this program.

Be prepared to show samples of what you say you did, or take some notes on readings.

When you have completed working the hours you have registered for, you will make an appointment with Anne or another rep from Courses4Teachers to go over your log and your documentation. You may be able to meet with Anne the same day you attend her workshop if you have completed your hours and your log is ready.
